Food System Assessment in the Arab Region (coming soon)

The e-course introduces a novel food systems assessment tool designed to allow countries to better understand the functioning of their food systems. The tool would allow countries to identify hot- and bright-spots and thereby to design policies and strategies for food systems transformation aimed at ensuring the achievement of food security and nutrition while also making them more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable. The tool revolves around 28 indicators distributed into 4 core outcomes and 24 causal indicators anchored in the six dimensions of food security and spread through the components and drivers of the food system.

The tool was developed by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, other regional partners, and a range of national and international experts.
